BUILDING ATHLETES
AT AAA SCALE

For NBA Live, realism was everything. Fans know these athletes intimately, making even small inaccuracies noticeable.

My work focused on capturing authentic player likenesses while improving the pipelines that made high-quality production possible at scale.

THE CHALLENGE

Sports games present a unique creative challenge. Unlike fictional characters, these athletes and brands are instantly recognizable and constantly changing.

 

Hairstyles, facial hair, accessories, and personal style evolve throughout a season, requiring continuous accuracy while maintaining strict production schedules and performance targets.

Every asset needed to feel believable, optimized, and consistent across a large roster.

ATHLETE AUTHENTICITY

Authenticity in NBA LIVE went far beyond facial likeness.

Creating believable athletes meant everything from hairstyles and uniforms to footwear, tattoos,  and customization content.

PIPELINE INNOVATION

As production scaled, creating great assets was only part of the challenge.

I improve how character content was built across the team by identifying workflow inefficiencies, refining production methods, and introducing stronger asset pipelines that improved consistency, quality, and speed.

SCALING EXECUTION

Improving workflows only matters if teams can actually use them.

I helped extend stronger production methods across the broader character pipeline through clearer documentation, outsourcing support, and workflows that allowed multiple contributors to produce assets more efficiently while maintaining consistency and quality.

FINAL IMPACT

Every asset ultimately served the same goal: delivering believable athletes that held up in motion, under gameplay constraints, and across the full NBA LIVE experience.

My contributions spanned athlete creation, customization content, and production systems, helping scale both authenticity and execution across a major AAA sports title.
